Rebecca's Rosemary Mint Fabric Softener (well, sorta).

The Stuff of Laundry Legends!

I have a sister, she has a blog.  She gifts the world with DIY wonderfulness...such as:

DIY Laundry stuff
DIY Cleaning products
DIY Lotions and Potions
Recipes

Her blog is awesome.  Her blog is:

http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/

My Introduction to wherever this post is leading...

I'm the eldest of four sisters and, I know more than they do.  Jillee is patient with me however, she realizes that I "prefer" to embrace new ideas presented by other people, not my dorky younger sister.
So I sat back and watched her frilly little posts about DIY laundry this and thats, humoring her with my support and encouragement because that's what wiser and older (aging amazingly well) sisters do.
I went merrily on my way spending my hard earned $$ on brand name products, especially one that may or may not be Caldrea ( oh how I love Caldrea) until one day, I ran out!  On a weekend!

They say that when a door gets slammed in your face, a window opens.

Ok, my lightning quick thought process kicked in and scanned my options:  I live in Wyoming, we have Tide and Clorox.  And, lucky for me...white vinegar, water and Sauve (see above).

In secret, I searched Jillee's blog and found what I was looking for.  I could throw this crap together and make it until Amazon delivers the goods couldn't I?

Yes.

The rest is a humbling and horrific story of bowing to the Queen of DIY, my brat sister.  Conceding defeat as I gleefully washed load after load of clothes softened with this wondrous and CHEAP stuff in a no name bottle.  Just for kicks, here's Jillee's victory post:

http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2012/02/rebeccas-rosemary-mint-fabric-softener.html

It's good stuff!  Try it, you'll LOVE it but try not make a mess like I did today and buy a bigger funnel, trust me on this.

Big Mess!
My Success!

Thanks to my brat sister, Jillee.

Spring (mostly Summer) Fever!

The cold beauty of Winter.
I am so DONE with winter!  Even though we've had a fairly mild winter in Wyoming, it's still frigid and so inexplicably non-green.  I say it's high time for COLOR!  The stuff of gardens, rivers and mountains.  Here's a few summertime photos of my backyard, kids having fun in the garden, birds sipping at the birdbath (look close, cute finch), camping at Grey's River in WY, fly fishing on the Snake River in Jackson...pure SUMMER.  Enjoy!

Blue jeans on the fence.
Maya.
Mike & Clint (backround) hunting trout :)

Tiffany & Chloe on the river's edge, cheering her Dad, Uncles & Papa on!

Grey's River.
Cute little Finch on birdbath.
I feel much better now...

XOXO

Me and Whole Foods

Sliding automatic doors, a lame photographer's nightmare.

Because I live in Wyoming, Walmart is about as exotic as our shopping experience gets.  Why is that?  I don't bloody well know!  And, because I choose to eat as organically as possible, living under the "big sky" makes that endeavor extremely challenging!  I mean it's not like we can grow our own food here, our growing season is a whole 3 weeks (tiny exaggeration).

Soooo, anytime I can get to our closest Whole Paycheck Foods (Mike loves to call it that, he doesn't get me), which is far, far away in Park City, UT...I go, and...

                                                 I AM COMPLETE  &  I AM HAPPY

I am sure I positively GLOW behind that shiny black and green shopping cart with a Starbucks cup holder which also completes me.

Pretty grocery bags too!
Yes, I do travel with a "clean" white cooler in the back of my car at all times, just in case.

Cornbread + Butter + Homemade Maple Syrup = Yummy.

February 24- Bracelet
Got a new bracelet. I like.

I do apologize for the nasty camera flash- I was gone all day, and by the time I got home all the natural light was gone. :/

Operation Beautiful!

You may have heard about the awesome Caitlin over at www.operationbeautiful.com. When I happened upon her website, I was floored by the simplicity and importance of her work and became very excited about joining in!  Her mission is this:
The mission of Operation Beautiful is to post anonymous notes in public places for other people to find. The point is that WE ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL. You are enough... just the way you are!
I absolutely love what she's doing!   I have armed myself with Post - its and my mission is to slap as many of these babies as l can on unsuspecting windshields, mirrors, monitors, desks, taxicabs somebodies back, etc. .  Today, I chose a gasoline pump :)  I felt a tiny bit better about spending $50 to fill my tank knowing that some unsuspecting person was going to drive up behind me and find this little love note left just for them :)

Will you make a difference today?

Post a comment, tell me how you did it!  ...and have FUN with it!

Double Tag. :)

I've been tagged by Katrina and Treskie!

Rules:
1. You must post the rules in a new blog post.
2. Answer the questions and then create eleven new questions to ask the people you’ve tagged.
3. Tag eleven people and link to them.
4. Let them know you’ve tagged them.

First, Katrina's questions-

1. If you could be a book character, who would it be?
Too, too many choices! I really have no idea.
2. Superpower?
Possibly flight...?
3. Do you prefer illustrated or non-illustrated novels?
I don't really care either way, unless it's a poor illustrator- then I don't care for it.
4. Fantasy or Science-fiction?
I haven't really read much science-fiction, so fantasy, I guess. :D
5. Can you write in a noisy environment, or does it have to be quiet?
I like quiet. :)
6. How many books can you read in a day?
I guess it depends on the books, but probably 2-3. I'm a pretty fast reader.
7. Favorite author?
Oh, impossible to choose! I like Rick Riordan a lot, though.
8. Favorite illustrator?
I really like Trina Schart Hyman.
9. Middle-Grade or Young Adult novels?
Probably Young Adult. It depends. :)
10. One person in the world you wish you could meet?
 Prince Charming? ;P
11. One place in the world you wish you could go?
Ooo.... I don't know. I haven't ever seen the ocean, so it'd be cool to go someplace warm and watery. :D

Now for Treskie's questions!

1. Name three of your favorite/can't-live-without books.
Other than the Bible? How am I supposed to choose?? Possibly the Percy Jackson series, any P. G. Wodehouse book, & The Ordinary Princess.
2. Favorite movie?
Oh dear. I. Don't. Know. Tangled?
3. Coffee or Tea?
Tea. Madagascar Vanilla Red = The Best Sort. :)
4. Favorite music genre? Song? Singer? (three in one, I know. But I couldn't resist.)
I'll just say Relient K for all three. ;)
5. If you were stuck on a desert island, what would you miss the most?
Depends on the island, I guess. Food? Something to kill wild animals with? Sunscreen? A boat? ;P
6. Vampires, Zombies, or Orcs? (Wow, that's got to be hard to answer, I don't envy you that choice.)
Orcs. 'Cause you can kill them easier.
7. Can you play an instrument? If so, which one/ones?
Yup. I play the harp and piano.
8. List your five favorite TV shows
Doctor Who, Merlin, Downton Abbey, Once Upon A Time and Monk. I think.
9. Which accent do you like the most?
Probably British.... :D
10. You have a choice to either go to a major party with dancing and lots of people, or stay at home and read. Which would you choose?
Being the major introvert that I am, I'd probably stay home.
11. Reading, writing, drawing, singing, or acting?
Reading and writing! With drawing on the side. ;)
Thanks girls, that was fun! :D

I break the rules yet again, to tag anyone who wants to do this. :)
And I just did a post like this not so very long ago- so use those questions if you want to do it. :D

Happy Friday Everyone!

Yukon Chloe
And welcome to my newest endeavor, Camp Wander, live from Wyoming!  I am SO excited to share this wonderful, beautiful crazy life with you, which is a little bizarre because I don't even like talking on the phone that much :)  However, just add photos, a bit of witty wisdom, a good tale with a few life basics thrown in and I'm all ears!  Lots of fun ahead!

In the meantime, meet little Chloe, she and a few other "little people" in my life will be making cameo appearances a lot...cute little thing ain't she?

Until next time...have a brilliant day!

XOXO

Every Fictional Book I Read Last Year...

...with a mini review, if I feel like it.

1 star = Don't bother.
2 stars = I didn't super dislike, but I didn't like.
3 stars = Fun book, but I probably wouldn't read it again.
4 stars = Good Book. You might enjoy it.
5 stars = THIS IS THE BEST BOOK EVER AND YOU MUST READ IT!!

 January

1. The Lightning Thief - Rick Riordan
 5 stars; re-read.
This was a re-read, but I still enjoyed it ever so much- same with the rest of the series.

2. The Sea of Monsters - Rick Riordan
 5 stars; re-read.

3. The Titan's Curse - Rick Riordan
 5 stars; re-read.
I reallyreallyreally hate it in books when the guy & girl get separated, and one of them spends the whole book looking for the other. However- this is Percy Jackson, so it's an excellent book anyways. :D

4. The Battle of the Labyrinth - Rick Riordan
 5 stars; re-read.

5. Third Girl - Agatha Christie
 5 stars.

February

6. Pilgrim Kate - Helen Fern Daringer
3 stars; re-read.

7. Enna Burning - Shannon Hale
 3 stars.

March

8. Forest Born - Shannon Hale
4 stars.

9. The Cater Street Hangman - Anne Perry
 1 star.
This book was a major disappointment to me. I saw a trailer for the movie, and ordered the book. Meh. Didn't like it.

10. The Watsons - Jane Austen and John Coates
 5 stars.
This was an excellent book -Jane Austen, so duh- I really enjoyed it. Why doesn't someone make this into a movie- instead of another version of Jane Eyre, or Wuthering Heights??

11. Jeeves in the Morning - P.G. Wodehouse
 5 stars.
What can I say? P.G. Wodehouse is awesome.

April

12. House of Many Ways - Diana Wynne Jones
4 stars.
While not as good -IMO- as the two books preceding this one- I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

13. Debbie of the Green Gate - Helen Fern Daringer
3 stars; re-read.

May

14. Westmark - Lloyd Alexander
 4 stars.
I had already read the last book in this series, so I knew how it ended, but it was nice to finally get some of the story that happened before.

15. The Last Olympian - Rick Riordan
 5 stars; re-read.
Such. A. Good. Book.

16. The Kestrel - Lloyd Alexander
3 stars.
Hm. I really don't like books where the characters get all depressed. If I remember correctly, this book was kinda like that.

June

17. The Throne of Fire - Rick Riordan
 5 stars.
Egyptian mythology in modern times- super fun and educational! ;)

18. The Beggar Queen - Lloyd Alexander
 3 stars; re-read.
I always hate it in books when characters that don't really need to die, die. Still a fun book, however.

19. The Trumpeter of Krakow - Eric P. Kelly
3 stars.

20. The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
 4 stars.
While I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I only gave it four stars, because it was rather violent to be in the Young Adult section. (However, that didn't stop me from reading the rest of the series, and loving them...)

July

21. The Mating Season - P.G. Wodehouse
5 stars.
Yet another story where Bertie Wooster finds himself into a horrible jam, and his man Jeeves gets him out. Brilliant! :D

22. Emil and Piggy-Beast - Astrid Lindgren
3 stars.
This is a children's book- but rather fun.

23. Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins
 4 stars.
The second book in the Hunger Games series = Another page turner.

August

24. Mocking Jay -Suzanne Collins
3 stars.
This book was very disappointing to me. *spoiler alert* Katniss spent most of her time being depressed, or recovering from  her latest battle wounds, and Peeta- Ah, Peeta! *siiigh* And like I said- hate it when characters that didn't really need to die, die. Makes me mad. >:( *end spoiler alert*

September

25. Dealing With Dragons - Patricia C. Wrede
 5 stars.
Such a fun book/series. I love.

26. Poirot Investigates - Agatha Christie
 4 stars.
A collection of Poirot short stories- fun reading.

27. Searching For Dragons - Patricia C. Wrede
 5 stars.
So, the love interest is introduced in this book- Cimorene+Mendanbar forever!!  *squee* ;)

28. Calling on Dragons - Patricia C. Wrede
 5 stars.
LOVE this book- except for the end- fortunately, there's one more book that comes after it. :D

29. Entwined - Heather Dixon
 4 stars.
This was a re-telling of the 12 Dancing Princesses. I can't quite decide what I think of it- T'was a fun read- but a little bit strange...

October

30. Talking to Dragons - Patricia C. Wrede
 5 stars.
Ah, I love these books! 'Cept one of the major plot points in this book is one of the things that really annoys me when Something Like It Happens. But I can't tell you what it is- go read the book. :D

31. The Shield Ring - Rosemary Sutcliff
4 stars; re-read.

32. The Son of Neptune - Rick Riordan
 5 stars.
I love Greek/Roman mythology -even though I haven't studied it much- and this book series is so much fun! (And educational! I can remember lots more mythology characters/stories since I've read the Percy Jackson books.)

33. Mara; Daughter of the Nile - Eloise Jarvis Mcgraw
 5 stars; re-read.
I LOVE this book. If you haven't read it, you must. Right away. I insist. Even if you have read it, you should go re-read it. You know you want to. :)

34. The Seven Darlings - Gouverneur Morris
 5 stars; re-read.
This is a darling book. (Yes, lame pun...) But it is. Really.

35. Sorcery and Ceclia or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot - Patricia C. Wrede & Caroline Stevermer
3 stars.

 November

36. The Blue Castle - L.M. Montgormery
5 stars; re-read.
I love this book. IMO, it is one of L.M. Montgormery's very best books. It's super fun. ^_^

37. Foundlings - Matthew Christian Harding
1 star.
I didn't really care for the style of writing this book was written in, and none of the characters grabbed my interest. Thus, I didn't really enjoy it.

38. Image of Josephine - Booth Tarkington
3 stars.
This was a fun book, and while the ending was a happy one, I still wasn't entirely satisfied with it.

December

39. Crown Duel/Court Duel - Sherwood Smith
 4 stars; re-read
This is really fun book, but it's one of those weird ones that have magic, but it's not a really magic-y world, so then all the sudden there's a major plot point that involves magic, and you're like "Wow, that was sorta different/out-of-place-feeling."  Still a fun read though. :)

 40. Alex O'Donnell and the 40 Cyber Thieves - Regina Doman
 3 stars.

41. Black As Night - Regina Doman
3 stars.
This was a fun book- but it's the aggravating sort where the guy is searching for the girl, but keeps just missing finding her... >:(

42. Waking Rose - Regina Doman
 3 stars.
I really don't like depressing books, if you haven't figured that out yet. This one wasn't too bad, but it sorta bothers me when in sequels characters who were fine in the previous book suddenly have a huge emotional problem- and you know it's just because the author wanted to write another book 'cause the first book was popular. *spoiler* And one of the main characters is in a coma for a goodish bit of the book- which annoyed me. *end of spoiler* However, it's still a very fun book- I read it in one day.

43. The Midnight Dancers - Regina Doman
2 stars.
So, this book sort of bothered me... It's a re-telling of the 12 Dancing Princesses, which means that the girls are sneaking out at night to go dancing. Somehow, it just seemed worse than the usual fairy tale- maybe because it's set in modern times it makes them seem extra sneaky, I dunno.

The End.
