It's the most wonderful time of the year!
Many of us are headed over the river and through the woods to get to Grandmother's house for Thanksgiving but there are 42 days left of Holiday travel yet ahead!
When enroute to holiday destinations, we can be presented with unpleasant hazards from less than desirable food, weather conditions, germs from sharing facilities with the general public, hours waiting in a local clinic, travel sickness and more.
Cheer up! All of these "situations" can be helped along with a mobile Fragrant Pharmacy, that's small enough to fit in your purse, backpack or murse (man purse).
Travel Sickness!
While traveling can be one life's greatest adventures, if you or your compadres feel sick in a car or plane there's not much else you'd rather do than get OUT of that car or plane, agreed? Hold on! There's help in a small brown bottle...
- A cup of warm Peppermint tea before air or car travel will settle the stomach.
- Kids? Keep a bottle of doTERRA's Peppermint Beadlets on your person at all times. Each beadlet is a drop of Peppermint encased in a handy dissolvable shell that you can easily dispense to each sicko that threatens a mess!
- Somebody in the group is running a fever, Peppermint with a bit of carrier oil can be massaged on chest and torso to drop fever 2 to 3 degrees.
- Local BBQ joint was amazing but you're not feelin so amazin. Pop a couple Peppermint beadlets or, drip a drop or two into something and drink it down. Heck, you can even rub the essential oil over your stomach.
- Kids fighting, movies playing in the backround while concentrating on winter roads
mightwill cause tension headaches. Rub some Peppermint on the back of your neck and up around the back of your ears and down jawline...you'll smell sweeter and feel much better! - Stomach upsets of all sorts can be quieted with Peppermint or Ginger. Choose which one works best for you! With doTERRA EOs you can make a warm tea and drink. Put a drop of either oil in a teaspoon of honey or even on a sugar cube! This suggestion comes in handy for kids. Prepare a few sugar cubes with a drop of your preferred EO and stuff in your purse or glove compartment just in case!
Leavin on a Jet Plane!
Flying presents it's own challenges: dehydration, sickness, swollen feet, ankles and hands, headaches from pressurized cabins and other "annoyances". Hang on, try these tips for for a pleasant flight :)
Dehydration: Try to avoid coffee, alcohol and soda. Drink lots of water with 1 to 2 drops of Lemon to keep things moving in your system and brighten your mood!
Bloated or gaseous: Ask for a cup of warm water, put a drop of Peppermint in it, sweeten with a little honey and sip.
Anxiety in flight: Put a drop of Lavender on one tissue and a drop of Geranium on another and keep in small plastic bag. When feeling anxious, take the tissues out and hold them to your nose, inhale deeply then lie back and close your eyes. This works well for cranky people too!
Swollen Ankles: One of my least favorite consequence of flying! Before leaving home, drip 4 drops of Lavender on a moistened handkerchief or bandana and keep in a small plastic bag. During flight, apply as compress and massage upwards from your ankles to calves. Feels wonderful, it will relax everyone around you too :)
Fidgety Kids: Have a bottle premixed with 1 part Roman Chamomile to 2 parts Lavender and some carrier oil. In times of restlessness, massage some of the blend on their calves and feet and tuck them in to settle down.
Keep it Clean!
Traveling can be dirty business, we're sharing space with so many different people it's important to aware of this!
Sanitizing Spray: I simply keep a 1oz glass spray bottle of On Guard and water in my purse. I spray the plane seat, the toilet seat and any publicly shared space I'll be spending time in.
Bedbugs: I have a handy dandy potion for this too. Make and fill a 1 oz glass spray bottle for hotel stays. CW Bed Bug Spray
Sanitizing Wipes: CW Lavender and Lemon Swipes!
Be prepared for any eventuality while traveling! The good news is: if you only take one or two bottles of essential oils, this may be all you need to deal with life's little surprises...
...and that, is one of the MANY reasons I love essential oils!
Happy Thanksgiving my Friends, Safe Travels.
