Daybook 43

Outside my window- It's sunny today, but pretty cold.

I am thinking about- I got an iPod last week, and woot! now I have Instagram! So, if you'd like to follow me, go right ahead. :D

From the kitchen- We got a bunch of snow on Monday, so we made snow ice cream.

I am creating- We were at a Bible conference over the weekend, and I did some knitting while I listened.

I am reading- I found "Moccasin Trail" by Eloise Jarvis Mcgraw at a second hand store, so I'm hoping to read that soon. :)

I am hearing- Mollie practicing harp downstairs.

I am planning- Once I finish this post I'd better start making lunch.

I am wearing- A floor-length plaid skirt, and an aqua sweater.

My hair is- Damp. I washed it this morning.

Around the house- Amanda left last week for a missions trip, and she's going to be gone for about a month.

Outside my window- The sun's starting to set.

I am thinking about- Yesterday I bought myself a(nother) black dress. It's an 80's dress, but it's actually cute- I might change the sleeves a bit though, 'cause they're kinda poofy. I paid $5 for it, and then was delighted to find (when I came home & Googled it) that on Etsy, it's going for like, $30. :D

From the kitchen- We got new flooring! Dad and one of my brothers spent yesterday and today putting it in.

I am creating- I've been embroidering a table runner the past week.

I am reading- Yesterday I bought "Henry and the Paper Route" by Beverly Cleary at a thrift store, only to come home and find that I already had that one, and the copy of "Henry Huggins" I passed up (because I thought I had it) was actually one I didn't have. Ugh.

I am hearing- It's been noisy around here today- what with the guys putting the flooring in.

I am planning- I'll probably go play piano for awhile after I finish this. ...I haven't replaced the broken string on my harp yet. :/

I am wearing- A brown skirt, pink tank, and a green shrug over that.

My hair is- In a side pony.

Around the house- We went sledding with some friends on Sunday night, and that was fun, even though the snow was super deep- and we haven't put our tow rope up this year, so we had to *gasp* walk up the hill. :D

Outside my window- We got a bunch of snow over the weekend, and it's drifted as high as my window on the deck outside.

I am thinking about- As of today, I have a brand-new niece called Helen, and she's perfectly adorable! :)

From the kitchen- We had split pea soup for supper.

I am creating- I've been doing some embroidery the past few days.

I am reading- Hm... I haven't done any reading since last week, I guess...

I am hearing- Lilia's playing piano downstairs.

I am planning- Tomorrow my besties are coming over for a dress cutting out/fitting party- 'cause one of my besties is marrying one of my cousins, and Amanda's making the wedding dress.
And I get to be a bridesmaid. :D

I am wearing- A red hoodie, and a denim skirt.

My hair is- It's in two buns.

Around the house- We've had a busy past few days- fabric shopping on Saturday, wedding on Sunday, bridal shower for a friend on Monday, Bible Study on Tuesday (except we decided to dig a snow fort instead of our usual study), and today, we got to meet baby Helen!

Outside my window- Snow! On Monday we got like, 10 inches.

I am thinking about- I got my Jill and Tirian picture hung up on my wall! :D

From the kitchen- I made soup for lunch. So Dad took Mum out for lunch- 'cause he's not a huge fan of soup. It was yummy soup though- they missed out. ;P

I am creating- I have a project I'm planning to start working on soon... but it's a secret.

I am reading- I finally finished re-reading The Hobbit this afternoon. I was part way through before we went to see the movie, and then I kinda forgot about it... :)

I am hearing- Kiddos playing downstairs, mingled with the music I've got playing.

I am planning- No plans tonight, which is nice, because I've been gone in the evening the past two days.

I am wearing- A purple sweater, and a grey skirt. I'm actually wearing socks and shoes today, which I only do if I'm going somewhere, or freezing. I was freezing. :D

My hair is- Hooray! It's long enough for two braids!

Around the house- We babysat my nieces and nephew for awhile this afternoon. They wanted to go play outside, so I hunted up some outdoor clothes for them. They looked pretty funny waddling around in their too-big snow pants. :D

Outside my window- Lately, it's been really cold. Like, waaay below zero.

I am thinking about- Lookin' forward to doing some shopping/having a movie night with my besties later this week... :D

From the kitchen- I spent part of the afternoon making tortillas, so we could have enchiladas for supper.

I am creating- I helped Lilia make a bracelet like mine last week. After I showed her how to get started & stuff, she was able to do it pretty much on her own. :)

I am reading- "Heinrich To Henry" -which is a true World War II story- written by a guy my grandpa has actually met.

I am hearing- I've had Lovin' Ice Cream stuck in my head pretty much all day. :D 

I am planning- Practice, practice, practice. Amanda and I figured out what we want to play for our friend's wedding in February, so yeah, now we need to practice. :)

I am wearing- A grey wool skirt and a pink tank top with a blue/grey shirt over that.

My hair is- Pulled back into a barrette.

Around the house- So far... It's been a pretty normal week.

Outside my window- We still don't have very much snow. Which is kinda weird, since this is Minnesota after all...

I am thinking about- Amanda and I have been asked to play for a friend's wedding in February. We have to figure out what we're going to play, and then start practicing...

From the kitchen- Baked potatoes and salmon for supper.

I am creating- Yesterday I finished making a knitted/beaded bracelet. I like how it turned out.

I am reading- I read the Leviathan Trilogy over Christmas vacation. It was fun. 

I am hearing- "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri.

I am planning- After supper, we're having a birthday party for Dad. :)

I am wearing- A black sweater and floral skirt that I made when I was... 12. :D

My hair is- Headband + Ponytail.

Around the house- We went skiing last weekend... and my younger brother hit his head going off a jump, and got a concussion. He also temporarily lost his memory- & couldn't remember Christmas! Thankfully, it's all come back now except for about an hour after he hit his head.

Outside my window- The trees were lovely and frosty today.

I am thinking about- It's my golden birthday tomorrow! The world ends (according to the Mayan calendar) on the 21st, so I've been telling my family all year that they ought to buy me lots of presents, but I'm not sure that I've convinced them. ;D

From the kitchen- Rice and chicken for supper.

I am creating- Last week I made that Rapunzel doll for Amalia's birthday...

I am reading- I'm about halfway through re-reading The Hobbit.

I am hearing- Christmas music.

I am planning- We're (finally) going to see The Hobbit tomorrow! :D

I am wearing- A black t-shirt, denim skirt & a grey and white hoodie.

My hair is- Up, with a million bobby pins. :)

Around the house- We went Christmas shopping this afternoon, and then Lilia, Amalia and I wrapped presents in my room. :)

Outside my window- It's fairly overcast, and the sun's starting to sink behind the trees.

I am thinking about- Buying Christmas presents... I'm about halfway done. :)

From the kitchen- This morning, Amanda and I cleaned out the fridge.

I am creating- I got some pens for inking drawings, so I had to do some sketching to try them out.
I like. :)

I am reading- I'm hoping to re-read The Hobbit before we go to see the movie.

I am hearing- A playlist of some of my favorite-est songs.

I am planning- Weeell, I have plans... but they're a secret. :D

Outside my window- It's getting dark.

I am thinking about- There was a lot of laundry this week. I've got the last of seven loads in the dryer. *faint surprised cheer* ;)

From the kitchen- So far this week we haven't had to do any *real* cooking- just re-making leftovers from the weekend. :)

I am creating- I did the tinsel & lights on our Christmas tree- and then the others helped with the ornaments.

I am reading- I haven't done any reading so far this week...

I am hearing- Mollie is playing Christmas carols on the piano.

I am planning- We're re-watching The Lord of the Rings this week. Tonight we're watching The Two Towers. :)

I am wearing- Well, Amanda and I did it again. We both woke up and felt instinctively that today was a red shirt and plaid skirt sort of day... :D

My hair is- Slightly curly (leftover from yesterday's rag curls), and pinned up with about a million bobby pins.

Around the house- We went ice skating this afternoon. Morgan, Lilia and I skated all over the lake, and then the wind was against us all the way home...

Outside my window- It's been a fairly gray, overcast day.

I am thinking about- I've caught a rather nasty cold- yesterday I had a sore throat, and today I've got a headache and cough... :(

From the kitchen- Mum's making soap today.

I am creating- Last week Amalia and I tried making Play-Dough... It didn't go so great. :D

I am reading- I'm getting closer to finishing "Gentle Julia", which I started ages ago....

I am hearing- I've got my Pandora turned onto a nice background-y station.

I am planning- We're having a bunch of family over this weekend for our annual Thanksgiving/Christmas get-together.

I am wearing- An aqua sweater, and jeans.

My hair is- Loose/down, with a bobby pin to keep it out of my face.

Outside my window- I was intending to write this much earlier, but, that didn't happen. Obviously. It's dark out.

I am thinking about- Christmas presents! I haven't bought any yet... :(

From the kitchen- Will you all be shocked if I tell you that I'm not making any pies for Thanksgiving? I've decided that I don't like eating pie enough for all the trouble you go to for making one.
Pie crust is evil. ;D

I am creating- ...er, nothing at the moment. Still haven't finished my afghan.

I am reading- "Peace Child" by Don Richardson.

I am hearing- The soundtrack for "Faith/The Great Doctor". Soooo pretty!! :)

I am planning- Well, if I plan to go to bed tonight, I'd better put my clean sheets back on the bed... which means that I have to fold the other laundry I have piled there at the moment.

I am wearing- Jeans, an aqua tank-top, and a black sweater.

My hair is- In a french twist. I was kinda excited when I realized that I could do that- up until now, my hair has always been too long! :D

Around the house- Amanda and I had an early Thanksgiving meal with our Bible Study group last night. It was delish.

I am thinking about- I'm hoping our lake will freeze over soon so we can go skating... :)

From the kitchen- I just finished scrubbing potatoes for supper.

I am creating- Still crocheting away at my afghan... :)

I am reading- I finished both my library books- "The Mark of Athena" was awesome, with a cliff-hanger ending (literally!!), and "Throne of Glass"... meh. I didn't really like it.

I am hearing- Dad's driving the Bobcat around outside...

I am planning- Hoping to hang with my besties tomorrow... :D

I am wearing- Jeans, and a blue plaid shirt.

My hair is- Bobby-pinned back on one side with a flower.

Outside my window- There was a gorgeous pink sunset earlier this evening.

I am thinking about- Us girls had a delightful afternoon watching the latest version of "Emma" with my sister in-law, and drinking tea and eating cookies. :D

From the kitchen- I was kinda in a baking mood today. So I made biscuits for lunch. And cornbread for supper. And molasses cookies. :)

I am creating- I've been working on finishing my afghan the past few days- I'm on my last ball of yarn!

I am reading- At the mo, I'm between books.

I am hearing- Mollie setting the table, & my brothers playing video games upstairs.

I am planning- Supper, then dishes...

My hair is- In messy pigtails. :)

I am wearing- Amanda and I wore similar outfits today- blue sweaters with pockets, and dark-colored full length skirts. Seriously, we end up dressing alike all the time! We'll met on the stairs in the morning, and start laughing because we're wearing almost the same thing...

Outside my window- It's dark and raining.

I am thinking about- I went thrift shopping this morning, and came home with a pretty good haul, so I'm rather pleased about that. :D

From the kitchen- We had stuffed peppers for supper. They were yummy. :)

I am creating- eh, I still haven't felt super creative lately... so nothing to show for this.

I am reading- I'm currently reading a re-telling of "Pride and Prejudice" told from Mr. Darcy's perspective. I'm not exactly sure yet what I think of it.

I am hearing- I'm playin' songs that make me happy, via YouTube. ^_^

I am planning- I bought a dress today that fits almost perfectly, but it's a tiny bit too big, so I'm going to have to take in the sides a bit.

Outside my window- Earlier today it was really smokey outside- 'cause there have been fires in MN.

I am thinking about- Just the other day, I discovered the Korean TV show "City Hunter".
I love it. To death. If I wake up dead one of these days, it will be from the adorbs. ^_^

From the kitchen- Today we had a Kimchi making party with my sisters-in-law. :)

From the kitchen- Today Amanda and I put away all the jars of produce we've canned (a whole table full+), steam-juiced some elderberries, and froze the last of the corn.

Outside my window- Grey skies, and yellow leaves blowing off the trees in the wind.

I am thinking about- Cakes. 'Cause I've just discovered the show "Next Great Baker". It kinda makes me feel like baking... :D

From the kitchen- Amanda and I made pickles this morning with the last of our cucumbers.

I am creating- I did some sketching this afternoon...

I am hearing- The general sort of commotion that comes with a large household- plus a little extra 'cause my nieces & nephew are over.

I am planning- No plans for today really- which is kinda nice, because this week has been/is going to be pretty busy. Awesome busy, but still, busy. :D

Around the house- It frosted on Tuesday, so the kitchen is full of all the green tomatoes and peppers that we had to pick before the frost.

Outside my window- The sky was pink a minute ago, but now it's dark.

I am thinking about- I did an awesome photo shoot with my sister-in-law yesterday- I'll post some pictures for you all, one of these days. :D

From the kitchen- Just finished up supper.

I am creating- I've spent most of today helping Mollie and Lilia make little pipe cleaner dolls. I'm making an arabian princess doll while I help them. :D

I am reading- I just reread "Daddy-Long-legs" by Jean Webster.

I am hearing- Pandora Radio. :D

I am planning- Once we have the heads glued onto these dolls, I've got to stop crafting....

I am wearing- Jeans, and a purple/green/pink swirly long-sleeved shirt.

My hair is- Twisted, & up.

Around the house- My nieces and nephew are over. They're pretty interested in the little dolls we're making. :)
