In Which I Share Pretty Pictures

After going roofing with my dad and brothers earlier this week, I got so sore and stiff, that I feel like an old lady- so I decided it was time to re-read Howl's Moving Castle. ^_^

If you've read this book- here's a few of my favorite fan arts for you to enjoy,
and if you haven't, (WHY NOT??) maybe it will pique your curiosity.
Seriously. Read it.

I'm not really a huge fan of the movie, but there's so much fun fan art from it, so I couldn't help but include one...

(if you'd like to see more of my favorites, here's a link.)

A (mostly) Instagram Update

Yep. This is me becoming one of those bloggers who don't post for weeks, and then when they finally do, they cheat and post Instagram pictures of yummy coffee drinks and ice cream with sprinkles, and then try to tell you that they've been crazy busy.

Except this post doesn't have any coffee or sprinkles- just tea- but you don't have to be jealous or suddenly crave it, 'cause it was semi-nasty...

I caught a cold that's been going around- sore throat, cough + stuffy nose.
So I drank tea that wasn't super delish, and that made my throat feel a bit better.
(I'm mostly over it now.)

Hauling maple sap. This is the first year I can remember where the trees have still been running in May.

My bestie & cousin's wedding!
Despite the super chilly weather (we nearly froze taking pictures outside [& that really didn't help my cold!]), it was a rather fantastic wedding, and I had a ton of fun.

Guess who caught the bouquet?
...it was pretty much either catch it, or let it smash into my face. Fortunately, I had just enough hand-eye coordination to do the former.

It's finally been warm enough the past few days to be outside without bundling up.

Today, I found the first hepaticas of the year! If you're from Minnesota, you know that means- Spring!!

January Update

It feels a bit weird not to be taking Project 365 photos anymore- in fact, the first couple days of January, as it was getting closer to evening, I'd suddenly get this sinking feeling like Oh, the light's almost gone, and I haven't taken a picture yet today! and then I'd remember that I don't have to anymore. :)

So here's a bit of an update of what I've been doing since the new year.

-Every year after my birthday and Christmas, the cleaning bug bites me. Since I've just received a plethora of New Stuff that I need to find a place for, I always end up going through my cupboards, and giving away things I haven't used in awhile.
Says Mollie after receiving some hand-me-down Stuff: "I like it when you clean your room!!"

-I also re-arranged my bookshelves, because I had a lot of books sitting sideways because they wouldn't fit until re-arranged.

-We went skiing. Morgan got a concussion, and many of the runs were shut down and/or icy. The rest of the weekend we spent mostly playing video games and watching movies at my aunt & uncle's house. :)

-I knit a bracelet! It was surprisingly easy, and I'm really happy with how it turned out.

-This is the part where I brag about my awesome sister. She made me a TARDIS journal as a belated Christmas present. I'm trying to hurry up and finish my current journal, so I can start writing in it! :)

-Also, she drew me an AMAZING fan art of Jill and Tirian from "The Last Battle".
Because I ship them. Like crazy. And forever.
I'm sorry if you (like a few of my brothers and besties) ship Jill and Eustace, but you'll never convince me. They've tried, believe me.
...and don't use that argument about Tirian liking Lucy, because she obviously likes that Emeth dude.

*cough*

K, end of fangirling. :D

...and a question:
Since I'm not doing Project 365 this year, I have a feeling there's going to be a sudden drought of posts after posting every four or five days last year.
What sorts of posts are you hoping to see this year? Ideas?

My New Cloak

11 degrees. Brr...
I braved the cold to get some pictures of my cloak for ya'll.
I haven't bought a clasp yet, but other than that it's finished.
I used a Simplicity Costume pattern.
If I'd known how easy it was to make, I'd have sewn one years ago! :)
I like it rather a lot. :)

Merlin Costume Love

Just recently my sister and I discovered the TV show 'Merlin'.

  I. Adore. The. Costumes.
Here's a few of my favorites....

Gwen's purple dress. *sigh*

The front of this dress looks hand embroidered- which is super cool, IMO.

 Another gorgeous purple dress...

Morgana's wardrobe is my favorite, though.

I think it's the bright jewel-toned colors that makes me love all her clothes.

Beautiful green cloak... She also has a scrumptious red cape, and a purple coat/cape, but I can't find good pictures of them. :(

Overall, it's a pretty fun show- sorta cheesy at times, but I still like it.

And did I mention it has gorgeous costumes?

Your Order Has Shipped {& Another Fashion Event}

Yesterday, I received a very interesting email.
Amanda and I decided to buy each other spoon rings for Christmas.
And I got an email yesterday morning to say they had shipped.
But, instead of just saying something like "Your order has shipped", I read this-

Greetings!

Just a quick note to let you know your rings were shipped yesterday, Tuesday the 29th! And it was quite the day.... It all started when I saw your order flash across my screen, I immediately alerted the Elves in the attic. They were in the middle of a nice tea and cake break when they saw the flashing lights and heard me announce over the intercom about your order. Up they sprung, dancing a little jig, excited to get to work. I don’t know if you have every heard a crew of Elves dancing a jig, but it is very musical, what with the bells on pointy shoes and their wee voices raised in song.

Once your package had been sent down the industrial size candy cane slide in the living room, my wife and I hustled it downtown to the post office in our kick sled pulled by a pack of penguins. The whole town came out cheer the penguins on. And those birds looked so great in their new snow goggles, flying down the street with my wife on the reins and me hanging on for dear life and throwing tinsel out behind us. We arrived in a flash at the post office, where I gave a little speech about how spoon jewelry can unite all mankind in peace, kissed a few babies, shook some hands and then we all waved and shouted "Bon Voyage!" as your package was wheeled away in the lightly falling snow.

Which, I thought was a very unique and creative way to say that a package had shipped.
It made me smile, and I can't wait to get my ring!! :D

On another note, today is the first day of Natasha's 12 Days Of Christmas fashion event.
I can't promise I'll be able to post everyday, but I'd like to do some of them.
Amanda and I went to town this morning- Christmas shopping. :)
When I got home I exchanged the boots for stripey socks and clogs.
 Favorite Christmas Ornament?
Probably this Swedish horse. We've had it as long as I can remember, and I loved it as a child. :)

Quotes.

Look! It's a real post! Oh wait- it's only a collection of some of my favorite wordy pins from Pinterest.
But that's better than almost nothing, right? ;)
