New Years Resolutions?

I am not a good photographer.
But... I have decided to attempt Project 365.
I'm hoping it will improve my nearly non-existent photography skillz- and if I can journal every day for a year (well, I did forget twice...) I should be able to take a picture every day, right?
And yes, I will be posting the pictures here. :)
Who knows, maybe I'll give up part way through the year... but I want to give it a try anyways.

Anyhow, must dash- New Years Eve party with my besties and cousins tonight! :)

How about you- made any New Years Resolutions?

Daybook 38

Outside my window- It's dark out- & we still have almost no snow!

I am thinking about- Lilia is giving me a massage- but she's poking me too hard! :D

From the kitchen- Had my brother and sister-in-law over for supper.

I am creating- I learned how to do the waterfall braid- it's actually pretty easy.

I am reading- Got a couple of books by Regina Doman from the library- I've been reading all day... :)

I am hearing- 'Ever I Love You' by Tim Janis. Really pretty song.

I am planning- To continue randomly shining my new sonic screwdriver until I think up something to answer this question with! ;)

I am wearing- Aqua and black plaid shirt, and a gray wool skirt.

My hair is- In a twist-y sort of updo.

Around the house- Went skating this afternoon. The ice along the shore got pushed up against the bank, creating a slope of ice- never seen that happen before.

I am wishing- That Amanda and I hadn't discovered the TV show 'Once Upon A Time' until it was all out... I hate waiting in suspense for the rest of the episodes to air!

Daybook 37

Outside my window- It's dark. Rather windy too- I just got home from town.

I am thinking about- It was my birthday yesterday. I can't believe I'm nineteen already! o.O

From the kitchen- Supper, I think? Like I said- I just got home.

I am creating- I want to learn how to do a waterfall braid...

I am reading- Got a book from the library today... planning to read it tomorrow.

I am hearing- Christmas music playing downstairs.

I am planning- Tomorrow I'm going to Grandma's to mop her floors before her Christmas company arrives.

I am wearing- Aqua long sleeve shirt, and a black skirt with white swirly flowers on it, and black knee-high boots.

My hair is- In a knot.

Around the house- We're going to go see 'Tintin' in the theater tonight! In 3D. :)

I am wishing- Merry Christmas to all my readers!

Daybook 36

Outside my window- It's a gray, foggy sort of day.

I am thinking about- Wrapping presents... ^_^

From the kitchen- Considering making a gingerbread house... We'll see.

I am creating- Did some knitting this morning.

I am reading- I haven't done any reading lately... Sunday night I got the flu, so I've pretty much laid around for the last two days. Finally feeling better, though.

I am hearing- Amalia is practicing Christmas carols on the piano downstairs.

I am planning- I really ought to practice my harp...Amanda and I got asked to play for a wedding in March.

I am wearing- A pink sweater, and a denim & floral tiered skirt.

My hair is- In a low bun.

Around the house- Mollie & I stayed in 'cause we're sick, but everyone else is out skating.

I am wishing- Considering the fact that the horrid stomach-ache I had the last two day is finally gone, I'm pretty content. :D

12 Days of Modest Fashion -Day 8

Day 8 - Wear a scarf.

I have to admit that I didn't wear the scarf all day- I did some major cleaning/organizing today, and it was getting in the way. :)

Daybook 35 {& Day 7}

Outside my window- It's sorta cloudy, but still very sunny.

I am thinking about- Video editing. Watch for a 'Twisted Bun with Scarf' tutorial hopefully sometime next week!

From the kitchen- Just finished lunch.

I am creating- Does wrapping presents count? :D

I am reading- Ordered some books by Regina Doman from the library- can't wait 'till they come!

I am hearing- An airplane flying over, and my niece and nephew laughing in the other room.

I am planning- We're going skating on our lake this afternoon.

I am wearing- A black & white polka-dotty shirt, and a denim skirt.

My hair is- In a braid.

Around the house- Babysitting my niece and nephew today.

I am wishing- To figure out what to get the members of my family (for Christmas) that I haven't decided on yet...

Day 7- Share a picture of your Christmas tree

Taking advantage of our tall ceilings, we got a ten-foot tall tree this year.
Makes me ever so happy. :D
 Here's my outfit for today.
(However, I'm about to change into jeans to go skating. Not that I can't skate in a skirt [quite the contrary, in fact!] but this particular skirt isn't the best for Doing Stuff Like That.)

12 Days of Modest Fashion -Day 6

Day 6- Wear a skirt

I usually wear skirts anyways, so today it was just a matter of deciding which one. ;)
Since I'd finally found a top to match, I decided to wear this hand-me-down skirt from a cousin.
I like.

With the last of our leftover Thanksgiving turkey I made this salad for lunch today.
It was delish! :)

12 Days of Modest Fashion -Day 5

Day 5- Anything goes.
So, I missed a few days over the weekend -and probably won't be able to post my outfits this next weekend- but I'll try to post most of my outfits during the week. :)
I tried a new way of doing my hair today- perhaps if I ever have clean hair and the inclination to take pictures at the same time, I'll do a tutorial for ya'll. :D

12 Days of Modest Fashion -Day 2

Day 2- Share a fun tradition your family has at Christmas.
Every Christmas Eve, Dad's side of the family comes over, and everyone brings a different kind of soup. After supper we visit, and then after everyone leaves we open presents.
Stockings are opened Christmas morning. :D

Here's my outfit for today- I'm afraid all my pictures for this fashion event may end up being in-the-mirror-self-portraits. It's cold outside!
My spoon ring came today! I love it.
Amanda and I decided that since we know what we bought for each other anyway, we might as well wear them before Christmas. :)

Your Order Has Shipped {& Another Fashion Event}

Yesterday, I received a very interesting email.
Amanda and I decided to buy each other spoon rings for Christmas.
And I got an email yesterday morning to say they had shipped.
But, instead of just saying something like "Your order has shipped", I read this-

Greetings!

Just a quick note to let you know your rings were shipped yesterday, Tuesday the 29th! And it was quite the day.... It all started when I saw your order flash across my screen, I immediately alerted the Elves in the attic. They were in the middle of a nice tea and cake break when they saw the flashing lights and heard me announce over the intercom about your order. Up they sprung, dancing a little jig, excited to get to work. I don’t know if you have every heard a crew of Elves dancing a jig, but it is very musical, what with the bells on pointy shoes and their wee voices raised in song.

Once your package had been sent down the industrial size candy cane slide in the living room, my wife and I hustled it downtown to the post office in our kick sled pulled by a pack of penguins. The whole town came out cheer the penguins on. And those birds looked so great in their new snow goggles, flying down the street with my wife on the reins and me hanging on for dear life and throwing tinsel out behind us. We arrived in a flash at the post office, where I gave a little speech about how spoon jewelry can unite all mankind in peace, kissed a few babies, shook some hands and then we all waved and shouted "Bon Voyage!" as your package was wheeled away in the lightly falling snow.

Which, I thought was a very unique and creative way to say that a package had shipped.
It made me smile, and I can't wait to get my ring!! :D

On another note, today is the first day of Natasha's 12 Days Of Christmas fashion event.
I can't promise I'll be able to post everyday, but I'd like to do some of them.
Amanda and I went to town this morning- Christmas shopping. :)
When I got home I exchanged the boots for stripey socks and clogs.
 Favorite Christmas Ornament?
Probably this Swedish horse. We've had it as long as I can remember, and I loved it as a child. :)
