ACV Tonic with a Twist!

The Age of Apple Cider Vinegar is Here!

ACV has long been considered a panacea of good health by natural health enthusiasts. Taking a tablespoon or two of it's mouth puckering tartness is said to cure everything from allergies to sinusitis.  The age of ACV as a health tonic is truly here and there's lots of documented health benefits to justify it!

I've dabbled with ACV as a daily tonic for awhile now, only recently adding EOs. Today's post is inspired by a happy accidental discovery...improved taste and other benefits by adding the amazing properties of PURE Frankincense and Shield Protection Blend for a healthier tonic!

Short Summary of Organic ACV...

It's best to take use an organic apple cider vinegar with "the mother" in it to be of most benefit.  The "mother" is a stringy looking ball of matter that settles at the bottom of the bottle or floats on the top. This is the source of the sour, fermented taste but, it's the good stuff,  full of enzymes, minerals and nutrients.  Shake and take!

ACV is the poster child for "if it tastes bad, then it's probably good for you!".

A Few Good Things About ACV

1.  Apple cider vinegar can prevent indigestion:  drink a glass of water with a teaspoon of ACV and a teaspoon of honey (if desired) 30 minutes before a meal and you'll be surprised how good you'll feel after that meal, especially if it's something that normally causes you heartburn or indigestion.

2.  In a study published in 2009 in Bioscience, Biotechnology and Biochemistry, it was found that subjects who consumed acetic acid for 12 weeks experienced significant declines in body weight, abdominal fat, waist circumference and triglycerides.

3.  ACV helps to break up mucous in the body and clean up lymph nodes.  Research shows that it can help with allergies and sinus congestion because of it's mucous busting abilities.

4.  ACV is rich in natural enzymes that can help rid your body of candida - yeasts that are attributed to humans.  Candida can be the culprit of low energy, poor memory, sugar cravings and yeast infections.

Have I convinced you ACV is worth the pucker?

Alrighty then, let me tell you about the sweet accidental discovery came about!  Because I had a nagging feeling of a cold coming on, I decided to add 2 drops of Shield Protective Blend to my daily 2 tablespoon ACV dose.  Shield is another great way to give your immunity system a kick in the proverbial pants with it's special blend of Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Lemon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary.  By adding Shield the ACV tonic takes on a cinnamon spice flavor and eases the after taste substantially!

"I added 2 drops of Shield to my 2 tablespoons ACV this morning as you suggested the other day. Great idea!!! It actually made it have a better aftertaste. I will continue to do this. It also seemed to take some of the throat burn away."  Vicki R.

One more addition to my daily ACV tonic...
2 drops Frankincense.

I take Spark Naturals PURE Frankincense under my tongue every day, rarely do I forget, that's how important I feel it is for me. Frankincense is a regenerative EO, it can aid in the fight against cancer, fight inflammation, can calm a seizure and the list goes on. Frankincense also enhances all other EOs, it just seemed a natural thing to do, adding it to my ACV tonic.  I'll be honest, the shot glass of ACV and EOs isn't pleasant, but the benefits are!  By the way, you can dilute the ACV tonic with water but I choose the "bottoms up" route, it's faster :)
